Brief

Realogy is a global leader in residential real estate franchising and brokerage, owning well-known industry brands including Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, The Corcoran Group, ERA, Sotheby’s International Realty and ZipRealty. The corporation was looking for a way to spark connections and discussion that would help define the future of real estate. The challenge was to expose this Fortune 500 company to a new generation of entrepreneurs looking to make the industry better for professionals and consumers.

Strategy

Realogy was in a unique position to welcome new ideas and new products into what many would view as the “traditional” real estate business. But the industry surely did not need another technology expo filled with tradeshow booths, salespeople and schwag. With 1000watt’s guidance, the FWD Innovation Summit became the first invite-only real estate technology demo event. The day-long summit follows a tight schedule with strict rules for participants who must put away the powerpoints and videos and show live technology then answer questions from a panel of judges. The event ends with audience members choosing a winner to receive a $25,000 check from Realogy to further develop their product.

Results

In its fifth year running in 2017, FWD continued to attract hundreds of applications from technology innovators throughout real estate. Many past participants and Realogy companies have continued to foster partnerships and relationships that have benefited the industry as a whole.
